The Terrific Twos!

Our Cooper Wayne is two! That is so very hard for Michael and I to believe! He has adjusted well to our new home in Dubai. People in Dubai are very friendly to children and Cooper is just eating up the attention. He loves to play peek a boo with people on the metro system and the staff at Johnny Rockets, or as Cooper calls it, Baby Rockets.  The staff at JR know him by his first name and call him their regular customer. That could also be due to the fact that Michael and I get tired of eating at the hotel restaurants. Cooper and I were eating in there one day and met the owner of all the Johnny Rockets in Dubai. Cooper was being his friendly little self to the staff at JR and other customers. The owner was leaving and stopped to talk to Cooper. The staff then told the owner that Cooper was their regular customer. The owner told the manager that they need to put a sign up for Cooper. The owner walked out to his Lamborghini and I thought he left. Next thing I know, he comes back in and tells the manager that our meal that day was on the house. That was such a nice gesture! To think that he walked out to his car, got in (saw those fancy shmansy car doors open up), and walked back in to do that for us. I told Cooper that next time we see him maybe he'll give Cooper a ride in his car! The owner is also going to put up a lighted sign in the restaurant that says "Cooper Eats Here". The manager had me write down the spelling of Cooper's name and took my phone number to contact me when the sign goes up.

So what is Cooper Wayne into right now? He loves cars, big trucks, school buses, trains - see the theme yet? Cooper loves transportation. He now has a pretty extensive collection of Thomas the Trains. I don't know who likes them more: his daddy or Cooper. :o) While riding around in Dubai he will call out all the automobiles he sees. A few of the names he has for the different modes of transportation are:
  • -taxi
  • -Tommy car (which is a taxi; he also says "taxi")
  • -school bus (any kind of bus is a school bus)
  • -big truck (his voice gets really deep when he says this one)
  • -bike
  • -Daddy's car
  • -train
  • -Tommy's train
He also has sound effects for the different types of transportation. He is definitely a little boy!

Cooper loves playing his guitar! I think we definitely have a musician on our hands.  He has such a good rhythm and holds the guitar properly. Some of his favorite songs are "Be Bop Yellow" (a Cooper Wayne original), "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", "Old MacDonald Had a Farm", "Dadda" (another Cooper original), and "Home on the Range".  It  wouldn't surprise us if Coop plays a couple of instruments.

He still loves Elmo and also enjoys Backyardigans (which have a British accent here), Dinosaur Train, and yes, even the purple dinosaur too.

Cooper had a great birthday! We had a little celebration for him in our hotel room with decorations, presents, and cake. Then we took him to the Dubai Mall to see the spectacular fountains and ride a train.  I don't think Cooper was quite as amazed about the Dubai fountain as we were. He usually loves water fountains; however, this fountain is so amazing you don't really realize that its water shooting out of the lake....looks more like fireworks.  He absolutely loved the train ride! He made his choo choo noises the entire time and gave us quite a struggle when it was time to get off.  It was definitely a hit with Coop!

This amazing little boy of ours brings us great joy each and everyday (even with his little fits)!

Cooper's 2nd Birthday. Michael took him out for a bit while I decorated the room to surprise him.

One last go around with his big ol' trucks, cars, and trains before we hit the hay after an eventful day!
